Felted Beaters

I like to go to the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival in Tunbridge and buy small bags of wool from as many vendors as I can. With these, I’ll make the beater heads. The found sticks are all unfinished – just pared down with my knife to a nice tactile fit. Softer beaters tend to bring out the bass resonance in drums, and the easier sound is welcome indoors.

In the “for what’s it’s worth” category, these beaters are all photographed on a large buffalo drum.
