This is an opportunity to birth your own Frame Drum. We will be making 16" frame drums with maple frame and Elk skin. The all day workshop incorporates ceremony, journey work and healing with the drum making.
The cost for this all-day workshop is $305, required by Nov 2. Fee is refundable only if the workshop does not meet the minimum number of registrants. The early payment secures your spot (there is a minimum and maximum number of participants) and insures timely delivery and preparation of materials. If you have any questions, contact me HERE.
Frame drums have a rich history, providing the heartbeat of ceremonies around the world for tens of thousands of years. They are generally considered the first type of drum made and there are many styles of drums and methods of playing in pre-historical, historical and contemporary cultures. For our workshop, we’ll use a construction technique adapted from the Salish tribe of the Pacific Northwest.
Drums are best birthed when the maker has clear intentions and holds her prayer well. With this in mind, our preparatory ceremony work will draw on a variety of traditions. You will be asked to sit with the idea of birthing your own drum ahead of time, and then during the workshop, state your intentions for making and using the drum. You will be encouraged to call in any particular spirits or energies to empower your drum. The cutting, layout and lacing of the drum is a very rewarding journey in its own right. Add your intention and prayer and you will most definitely birth a sacred drum.
